Postpartum guidance
After the birth, I'm there to guide the whole family. Initially, I will follow up on mother and child. In addition, I also find it very important to involve and guide the partner in developing his or her new role as a parent.
In the case of the mother, I monitor both medical and psychosocial well-being. This will include: follow-up on blood loss, discussing contraception, observing the breasts, etc.
This also includes; offering a listening ear, a pat on the back where necessary, noticing alarm signals in time and making them discussable, guiding emotional well-being and the development of the new mother role.
Of course, I also monitor the baby. I pay attention to urine, bowel movements, weight, navel, skin (color), etc. I offer comprehensive guidance on nutrition.
Lactation consultation
I provide professional nutritional guidance tailored to each family. Every baby and family is unique, so my guidance is adapted to your needs.
Weather you choose to breastfeed, bottle-feed, or use another feeding method, I'm here to support you without judgement. I'll guide you through your breastfeeding journey.
When I follow you up as a midwife, my knowledge and skills are automatically interwoven into my midwife consultations. The guidance does not cost you anything extra.
Pregnancy guindance
During your pregnancy, you can call on a midwife, alongside your scheduled consultations with your gynecologist. Through an in-depth intake interview, I’ll create a personalized care plan tailored to your unique needs, as well as those of your partner and family.
As a midwife, I’m trained to provide medical care for normal and low-risk pregnancies. With accurate follow-ups, I can detect potential complications early. Should any concerns arise, I will refer you to your gynecologist.
A consultation will always consist of a few medical check-ups, but also largely of giving tips and information.
Depending on your needs, i will provide information about breastfeeding and formula, preparation for labor and childbirth, changing parental roles, et cetera. I'm always ready to answer any questions you may have.
Prescribing medication
During pregnancy or postpartum period, it is sometimes necessary to take medication.
I am trained to prescribe certain medications by myself.
Feel free to ask me about this!
Workshops
I offer various workshops both before and after birth.
Perinatal counseling
Having a baby is a big change in your life. Sometimes concerns, doubts, fears arise already during pregnancy. Others feel shaky during the maternity period. Every brand new parent sometimes thinks “am I doing it right?” or “is this right?”. However, if you notice that feelings of doubt, anxiety, lethargy, fatigue, etc. prevail, then extra guidance in this can help you.
During my midwife consultations I already devote the necessary attention to this. If you want to work specifically with psychosocial support, you can always contact me for this extra support.
By 'perinatal' I mean everything related to birth. This ranges very broadly from childbearing and pregnancy to pregnancy loss, birth and parenthood. 'Counseling' is guiding you in your quest for emotional well-being.
During perinatal counseling I will work on your mental health regarding your (future) parenthood through talk therapy.
